张翎，浙江温州人。1983年毕业于复旦大学外文系，1986年赴加拿大留学，。现定居于多伦多市。90年代开始写作，代表作有《流年物语》《余震》《金山》《雁过藻溪》等。小说曾多次获得包括中国华语传媒年度小说家奖，华侨华人文学奖评委会大奖，台湾时报开卷好书奖，香港《红楼梦》全球海外华文长篇小说专家推荐奖等两岸三地重大文学奖项。 根据其小说《余震》改编的电影《唐山大地震》，获得了包括亚太电影节最佳影片和中国电影百花奖最佳影片在内的多个奖项。小说被译成多国文字在国际发表。
